Will for Free

Our Will for Free service means you can make or update your Will, and the ICR will cover the cost. Most people who use this service leave a gift in their Will to us, which helps raise vital funds for our world-leading cancer research.

We help people aged over 60 make their Will for free. Simply enter your postcode in the box below to find a participating solicitor close to you. If you'd like assistance, you can call our legacy team on 020 7153 5387 or email us at [email protected]

Why is leaving a gift to the ICR in your Will so important?

Gifts left to us in Wills are hugely important to us. They have underpinned our discoveries and achievements, leading to better diagnosis and treatments.

For example, a generous legacy gift from Mr Mullard enabled us to purchase a new flow cytometer machine. With this cutting-edge piece of equipment, we can now analyse cell samples more quickly and in more detail than ever before. Seven lasers distinguish between up to twenty six different colour combinations in cell samples – a level of complexity not previously possible.

Cancer research is a long term endeavour and gifts like Mr Mullard’s are vital to ensuring our life-saving research continues. By remembering the ICR with a gift in your Will, you will be providing our scientists with the knowledge that the support and resources they need will be available for many years to come.

Terms and Conditions

  • You or your partner must be over 60 in order for you to qualify for the Will For Free programme.
  • The ICR will cover the cost of a standard single or mirror Will up to a maximum agreed limit (£110 plus VAT for a single Will and £180 plus VAT for a mirror Will). You should clarify these costs with your solicitor on your first visit as you may have to pay for any costs that exceed this limit.
  • In order for the ICR to cover the cost of your Will you must complete, sign and date a ‘Will For Free Participant Information Form’ (included on the Will For Free information leaflet) which your solicitor will return to us on completion of your Will along with the invoice for the costs incurred, which you also need to sign and date.

The ICR is not registered with the Charity Commission because we are a college of the University of London, and this is standard for long-standing universities and museums. Our exempt reference number is X90004.
